Cartier Park*
One-mile paved loop accessible at the intersection of Bryant Road. & Rath Avenue in Ludington.
Hart-Montague Bicycle Trail*
The Hart-Montague Bicycle Trail is a 22.5 mile paved trail, beginning at John Gurney Park in Hart, one mile east of U.S. 31, running south to Montague. The trail weaves through several small towns and passes by various communities' restaurants and shops.
Ludington State Park*
Biking permitted on roads and paved pathways. Entrance fee.
Lake Michigan Recreation Area Take U.S. 31 north from Scottville to Forest Trail Rd. Turn left (west), drive about eight miles. Biking permitted on paved roads and designated bike path. Parking fee.
North Country National Scenic Trail
A National Scenic Hiking Trail extending through seven northern states, from New York to North
Dakota. Parking fee.
Local trailheads:
• Lower Branch Bridge, off South Branch Rd. in Branch.
• Timber Creek Campground, east of Branch on U.S. 10
• Free Soil Rd. 9.5 mile drive east of Free Soil. Trailhead is located on south side of the road.
M-116 along Lake Michigan
This scenic eight-mile route along Lakeshore Drive from Ludington to the State Park has a wide paved shoulder ideal for biking.

Scenic Road Cycling Routes
Maps are available at the link below for scenic cycling routes of various distances ranging from 14-100 miles in and around Mason County.
These routes were created for the annual Make A Difference Bike Ride fundraising event. The supported ride typically takes place the third Saturday in August. Please note that the aid stations indicated on the map are only available on the day of the supported ride. Be sure to pack enough food and water for the entire route if you are to ride these routes on a day other than the planned event.
Users of these cycling maps are responsible for their own safety and use these routes at their own risk. Users should consider not only route conditions but also their level of experience, comfort level riding in traffic, traffic conditions and traffic volume, weather, time of day, and any obstacles, such as construction or potholes, when cycling on any route. Cyclists should exercise the same level of caution whether riding on a route designated by this map or any non-designated route.
